Long distance from my girl and I'm talking on the cellular. She said that she was sorry and I said yeah the hell you were.

Quick Hitters and Random Thoughts

--Julianne Moore is going back to As the World Turns for an episode 25 years after she made her debut on the show?!

--If you want a good mindf*** of a movie I suggest Timecrimes. Part Lost, part Groundhog Day resulting in the best movie I’ve ever seen in which the cast is exactly four people. Also the best movie I've seen from a director named Nacho.

--When the U.S. Postal Service suggests dropping Saturday service they don’t mean Netflix movies, right? I guess I’ll just have to go through more of my growing foreign film library on Watch Instantly. Oh and Warner Bros. and any other studio that delays its Netflix releases a month after the initial release, get over yourselves.

--Wait, Jan and Marcia have a feud and so they bailed on appearing on Today for a Brady reunion? What would Alice say?

--Despite the fact "Lick It For Ten" might be the worst non-Leno late show bit of all-time, congratulations to Jimmy Fallon for making it through his first year. He’s improved a helluvalot (all one word?) since last March.

--Good news everybody! There’s gonna be another Big Momma movie!!

--An animated Tron series?!

--Mind-blowing that the U.S./Canada gold medal game created this type of audience. From Sports Media Watch and Puck The Media:
Sunday's game drew a higher overnight rating than every World Series game since 2004 (including every game of Yankees/Phillies last year), every NBA Finals telecast since 1998, and every NCAA Men's Basketball Final Four game since at least '98.
The 27.6 million average viewers for the USA-Canada Gold Medal hockey game surpassed the following during the 2009-2010 seasons:
2010 Grammy Awards - 25.9 million
2010 Rose Bowl - 24.0 million
2009 World Series Game 4 - 22.8 million (Gm. 4 was most watched)
2009 NCAA Basketball Championship - 17.6 million
2009 NBA Finals – Game 4 - 16.0 million (Gm. 4 was most watched)
2010 Daytona 500 - 16.0 million
2009 Masters Golf – Sunday - 14.3 million

--Of course Leno said Sarah Palin had never been a guest on late night TV. And of course Sarah Palin was on The Tonight Show with Conan O’brien. Whoever that is.

--Sayid v. Dogen FTW. Though I don’t think I liked the episode as much as The Chicago Tribune’s Maureen Ryan who had a great line:
“The only way the episode could have been any better is if Sayid had turned to the camera and said, ‘I'm on a horse.’"

Ben-centric episode next week? Oh F yeah!

--Really nothing to add to this first sentence from the AP:
Three Los Angeles school teachers have been suspended for giving children pictures of O.J. Simpson, Dennis Rodman and RuPaul to carry in a Black History Month parade.
And yes, they were hilarious white teachers.

--Our Final Destination Death of the Week comes to us from Washington. ‘Twas there 50-year-old Roy Messenger accidentally slammed his car into a utility pole. He called a relative to try and help him get his car out of the ditch it was now in. When the relative arrived Messenger was found dead, apparently by electrocution. It seems Messenger decided to relieve himself and unfortunately he did so on a live wire and that is one horrible, terrible, no good, very bad way to die.

--Man it’s really been 20 years this Thursday since Hank Gathers collapsed on the court and died? If your eyes didn’t water when Bo Kimble shot that first left-handed free throw then you had no soul.

--Getting closer to getting Breaking Bad back. The show has come up with another awesome website. Bettercallsaul.com. Brilliant. Bob Odenkirk was the perfect choice for that role. Slogan: I Can Make It Legal.
Reminder: Season One re-airs on AMC beginning next Tuesday, March 9th. Season Two re-airs beginning the following Friday. They’re re-airing like two a day beginning at 2 or so in the morning so set those DVRs.

--Erin Andrews your next Dancing with the Stars champion. Apparently her sister, Kendra, will be dancing in some number during The Oscars.

--I liked the treadmill song from OK Go a lot more than this one, but the video. Amazing. 60 takes is all it took?

--The 1903 version of Alice in Wonderland is kind of light on the effects. But I like movies that are 13 minutes.

Questions, comments or if you want to congratulate your boy, Richard Hickey, for garnering almost 10,000 votes in Montgomery County against a long-time incumbent…

  3. December of '08 I think because it's been on Netflix for awhile.

  4. As good as Season One is, Season Two owns it.

I don't know how Netflix still doesn't have an app. That new Tivo sounds pretty good, but kinda steep price to me.

I was wondering what the deal with Netflix was. I saw that The Informant was out on Blu-Ray but the Netflix release date isn't for another couple of weeks.

Movie you need to check out: Women in Trouble. Comedy about a bunch of women wearing hardly anything all movie long that includes Carla Gugino, Adrianne Palicki, Sloane from Entourage, Nina Sharp from 24, Coach Taylor's wife, and a whole slew of others. Tyra absolutely kills in every scene. Be sure to watch past the end credits.

  8. Yeah they're needlessly remaking it in English. There's barely that much dialogue anyway

  9. Tremendous episode of community this week.

  10. Agreed. I almost couldn't keep up with the shotgun blasts of pop culture references. A black Can't Buy Me Love. Gravy Jones. Awesome
