Most illingest b-boy - I got that feeling. Cause I am most ill and I'm rhymin' and stealin'.

Quick Hitters and Random Thoughts

--I had high expectations for Donald Glover/Childish Gambino, but to my surprise they were exceeded. His stand-up was solid and included LCD’s James Murphy which is always a plus. But damn that music. The guy is ridiculously talented. You never know until you see someone live how their voice really is, but it’s pretty obvious the guy just has a surprisingly good voice that can hit a falsetto. I have no idea where he gets his energy from but it’s infectious. The eclectic crowd was one of the best concert crowds I’ve been a part of. A lot more people knew his music than I was thinking and while, of course "Freaks and Geeks" had the most people shouting the lyrics back at him, the crowd knew more of the music than I expected. Just a really strong show from a really talented performer.

Nice to see @The_Raheel, @Nishma810, @MigM_ and @bcstagg out there. Miguel and I had the honor of cracking jokes with, talking to, meeting, hugging, staring at Donald Glover at Lucky’s before Lucky’s decided we were too crazy to hang out there anymore. Silly Donald, Woodrow’s is the smarter choice.

--I think there was zero chance “A Fistfull of Paintballs” was going to top last season’s “Modern Warfare,” but it’s making a nice run at it. I don’t think Annie can get hotter than she was in the open before the awesome opening credits rolled. Quality, quality scene. It was nice to have a little Annie-centric stuff going on and of course it was nice to have Josh Holloway in as “The Black Rider.”
Annie – “Coldplay?”
Black Rider - “Too late bean allergy. You blew it.”
Jeff had some good lines too regarding the looks of Mr. Holloway.
Jeff – “I got a good look at him. He’s not that good-looking.”
An Oral History on Magnitude? Pop! Pop! Loving that he was originally going to be named Poochie and it took a little time before they even remembered Poochie from The Simpsons.
Warming Glow with the Alison Brie gifs you'd expect.

--Chances are you’ve probably already seen this, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t watch it again. 500 Days of Britta.

--The Office really didn’t have any idea what to do with Will Ferrell did it? Watching the Michael Scott-less opening credits was just weird.

--Justified finished as strongly as it began in what turned out to be a terrific season. A season and a season finale with a lot of close calls for Raylan. He could’ve been ended by each one of the Bennetts at various points in the season’s final hour and when Mags offered up some “apple pie” I thought she just might try to poison them both. Thankfully, though bittersweet, it was only her glass that was tainted. So ends Margo Martindale’s run as the all at once sage, scheming, terrifying and jolly Mags Bennett. Well played Margo, well played.
I did think it slightly unlikely that Boyd would be so quick to give up Dickie to Raylan seeing as how Dickie did just shoot Ava. However, anything that leaves open the possibility of a return by Jeremy Davies in the future is fine by me.

I have no idea what’s waiting for us in season three, but I can’t wait to find out. I think this season surpasses Sons of Anarchy season two as my favorite season of FX television post-Shield.

--What the hell CBS?! No more Gus Johnson?! You hate crazy, fantastic finishes and/or upsets? Because it’s not the game, it’s Gus. If I’m Manny Pacquiao there’s no way I let Gus Johnson call my fight with Sugar Shane. It is really the only thing Sugar has going for him.

--Can’t the Celtics and Heat just both lose?

--Parker Posey was great on Parks dropping knowledge like waffles are great dog laxatives.
I hope we get to see some more Pawnee vs. Eagleton in the future. Maybe in a paintball game.
Ron – “Leslie has a lot of qualities I find horrifying. But the worst one by far is how thoughtful she can be.”

--I never got into it, but if you’re curious about the trucks entered in the next edition of The Great Food Truck Race, then here ya go.

--I guess it would have been too much to ask to have the conference semifinals round in the NBA and NHL to live up to their respective first rounds.

--I don’t know which I’m more excited about. ABC bringing Celebrity Wife Swap to America or Only In America with Larry The Cable Guy getting renewed on History. Hopefully I’ll have time to squeeze in viewings of the sitcom based on Mike Greenberg’s life. Hooray television!

--You’ve probably heard about this outstanding piece of writing from former Red Raider now Steeler RB Baron Batch. If not I highly recommend taking some time out to read about how he reconnected with his father on the day he was drafted.

--Thanks for those last ten to fifteen minutes Borgias because those first 40 or so were terrible and I’m not one to complain about gratuitous sex scenes, but geez. I’m sure the little stable boy will get his in due time, but the relationship between him and Lucrezia is working my last sappy nerve.

--TV Guide has a few details about Dexter next season. Two words: love interest. Oh yay.

Everybody loved those two crazy kids.

--AV Club with a breakdown of 170 pop culture references in Beastie Boys songs. While Salon goes through Community pop culture references. Warning the Community is a slide show. F’n hate slide shows.

--Netflix Watch Instantly to the backburner. HBO Go to the front. Every episode of every HBO series and yeah movies, docs and other stuff. But it’s all about handily revisiting Deadwood, Rome, The Wire, Extras etc. for me. My girlfriend wife has been trying to get me to watch Six Feet Under so I may as well give that a try. First thing I watched though was the opening scene to Deadwood since Alan Sepinwall wondered aloud on twitter if it was the best opening scene ever. It was good, damn good, but personally I liked Game of Thrones opening scene better, but then I’m a mark for white walkers. Maybe I’ll watch every HBO series open and rank them next week.

--AMC’s Hell on Wheels came out with its first trailer and I agree with the prevailing thought that it’s very Deadwood-ish. Obviously that’s not a bad thing.

--Jeff Lacy and Nick Diaz to box?!

--Lizzy Caplan and Adam Scott in a romantic comedy film produced by Adam McKay and Will Ferrell? It’s not Party Down, but I’ll take it.

--There’s such a thing as “Foreign Accent Syndrome”? Apparently Karen Butler is one of the few who are afflicted with it. She had dental surgery and when she came out of it she had an British accent that wasn’t there before. Weird. And also something fun to do next time you come out of surgery.

--Let’s take a quick look at Maxim’s Hot 100 even though Bar Rafaeli, Kate Upton and Chrissy Teigen inexplicably didn’t make the cut while JWOWW did. One of the few reasons to have watched Caprica was Alessandra Torresani who checks in at 94. Crazy ass Paz De la Huerta at 84.

Gabrielle Union at 81 is still a perennial top 15 to me. I mean I love Danica McKellar, but there’s no way she should be a spot ahead of Gabrielle Union. Arianny Celeste at 70. Seems like she should be closer to the top. I think everyone I mentioned deserves to be ranked above Elisha Cuthbert and Miley Cyrus who are 65 and 64. Seriously Christina Aguilera at 58?! A spot ahead of the lovely Grace Park?! Vanessa Hudgens at 54. Alison Brie at 49.

Okay I can’t look at this anymore. Well maybe just one more look because Rebecca Mader/Charlotte from Lost is 39 which is one spot behind Lindsey Lohan. Wait, what?! I’m outta here.

--I’m glad The Chicago Code is only down to a few episodes left. It’s been okay, but not nearly as good as I was hoping for from Shawn Ryan. When I think about what or who I like about the show I come up with Delroy Lindo and that’s about it.

--Yeah, I don’t know, but you may want to review some of your company’s policies so you don’t have to put a no suicide pledge as part of your employment contract. Foxxconn in China is the employer. An employer who also has rigged up anti-suicide nets around its building.

--There really is nothing more for me to add to Fox Houston’s In Focus report regarding “Is TV Too Gay?”

--Florida is the gift that keeps on giving. Elmer McGuirt also very giving. The homeless 27-year-old walked into a Tampa Wachovia Bank the other day with a note demanding money and saying he had a gun. He was given a bag with an unknown amount of cash and he just strolled on out of the bank and onto a bus. Once on the bus he just started handing out money to passengers. Maybe he skipped the bus driver because the bus driver stopped the bus claiming mechanical trouble and called the police. Apparently some of the money was recovered by police from bus passengers who stayed at the scene. Zero chance I would’ve stayed at the scene.

--I don’t think I even need to tell you which baseball player said, this “[Obama's] birth certificate has yet to be validated. If they can counterfeit $100 bills, I think it’s a million times easier to counterfeit a birth certificate, if you ask me. So, all it is, let’s just see if it’s real. Anybody can produce a document, so let’s check it out.”

Questions, concerns or if you revisited Yelapa this week and were quickly reminded why its happy hour is so freakin' solid...

  2. I think the Lucrezia/Stable boy scenes were ripped straight from the Annakin/Padme Attack of the clones script.

So what you're saying is I can now have Sex and the City everywhere I go now?

  3. That's exactly what their scenes are ripped from.

I'm saying exactly that. It's also something I'm never saying to my wife.
